Guilty in Salem/Meet me in Casablanca

LOCKE & KEY vol. 3: CROWN OF SHADOWS is out in hardcover this week, and as noted in my last entry, there are two ways to get a signed copy.

The first method would be to order from Cornerstone Books in Salem, MA. They’ll ship to you wherever you live (tho you pay shipping costs). But wait! There’s more! You can also order up to two other books, and get them signed as well. This makes it possible for you to get a complete signed set of the entire LOCKE & KEY series to date. Just like these happy customers:

But it also means you could order CROWN OF SHADOWS and both of the novels, or one of the novels and the book of stories. It’s practically a signed book buffet!

You can reach Cornerstone Books at 978-744-1831. But be sure and call ‘em soon… the window to order closes Wednesday night. (Aw, all right – probably if you order Thursday morning, we can squeeze you in. Just remember WHO REALLY LOVES YOU.)

The other way to get a signed copy of CROWN is to call up Casablanca Comics in Portland, ME. I’ll be signing there this Saturday, from 4 – 6, but you can also call in an order (207 892-0056), or buy through their website.

Casablanca will ship you up to three books, and they have all the LOCKE & KEY graphic novels, as well as copies of HORNS, HEART-SHAPED BOX, and 20TH CENTURY GHOSTS. Not only that, they’ll have copies of LOCKE & KEY: KEYS TO THE KINGDOM #1 (the first issue of the new series), and the $1 LOCKE & KEY: WELCOME TO LOVECRAFT – LEGACY EDITION… which are both out the same day as CROWN OF SHADOWS. That said, you can’t call in and order just the new comics – if you want signed copies of LEGACY or KEYS TO THE KINGDOM 1, you’ll have to order at least one of the books. Walk-in customers, however, will be able to purchase signed copies of the new comics during the event.

And a big hot heap of gratitude to anyone who calls in an order to Casablanca or Cornerstone. I love to sell me some books, of course, but I’m also glad when those sales are to the benefit of a classy indie bookstore or comic shop, and that’s the case here. I appreciate the support and so do they. Thanks guys.

I wish I’d get the comics I ordered 8 days ago now. I ordered the first 3 Locke & Keye issues, I guess before I knew or remembered I could get a signed copy.
Oh well. Maybe some other time. I’m more interested in diving into the story. I hope that doesn’t sound offensive, but I got hooked into the story right away.

I read a book about Salem, some of it was about the Witchcraft Trials, and that title ‘Guilty In Salem’ calls to mind creepy images. Particularly the one where they continuously piled rocks on top of the guy until he was crushed to death and died of massive internal bleeding.
The book I read was by Robin Cook, of course, and it was called ‘Acceptable Risk.’
I think they made a movie from it, but the book was way better IMO.
I’m constantly impressed w/ his body of medical knowledge, but sometimes it actually goes over my head. Something he was explaining in ‘Marker,’ one of the books I’m reading now, went over my head.
It’s the first time that’s happened w/ one of his books.
One thing he doesn’t know, or for some reason hasn’t experienced, is those doctors who make Attila the Hun look like he has a caring bedside manner. I know two of them, both are surgeons, and I don’t know why the one even became a doctor.

I have placed an order with Cornerstone for Locke & Key Crown of Shadows + The New Dead both to be signed by Joe (Yay!!), but when I saw that Casablanca are offering the Comics as well I thought happy days signed/doodled first printings by Joe, but to my dismay Casablanca are only offering this to American Orders only, booooooooooooooooooo……………………………..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would anyone be able to help me in this venture, would be more than happy to pay for the comics and shipping to the UK, anyone, please!!

I tried to get all 3 items listed above,Ordered last week with Cornerstone.. I called today to add an order of “Joe Doodles” to the personalized one. Too bad they are saying that” Keys to the Kingdom” is out of print, out of stock and wont be reprinted!! NUTS! I’m sure to get one in the future at my local comic store..In which somebody had parallel parked her way right into “Top Shelf ” Comics and smashed the storefront to pieces! (it wasnt my daughter)

BTW Vicki: A dooryard is your driveway and includes everything in between your car door and your house’s door!

  10. Tony Hill says:

Well, I put my order in. 3 signed hard covers and Locke & Key down with hopefully more going into my collection in the not too distant future. Thanks for doing these cross country signings, Joe!

Hi Joe, you recently wrote a story for a Neil Gaiman book (Stories) the Devil on the Stair Case. Great story. Well written and structured. Neil signed his copy what would the possibility of getting you to sign yours? By the way like the t shirt worn in your pub shot for Horns (great Australian band) Regards Christopher

  14. Casablanca Comics IS offering to ship to the UK. You just need to e-mail the store to work out the details.

  15. Greg says:

Joe, thank you for doing the signings. I’ve ordered from Cornerstone and Casablanca to spread the support. My wife has never had an interest in comics before but she’s read both Welcome to Lovecraft and Head Games and really enjoyed them. The personalization on Crown of Shadows will be for our 8th Anniversary. Thanks for being a source of common ground. Great stories!
