Hope the River Doesn’t Catch On Fire Again

I’ll be at the Cuyahoga County Public Library – Strongville Branch at 7:00 PM, Wednesday night, to read from HORNS… although I think I might wind up reading “The Devil on the Staircase” which is included in the trade paperback of HORNS as a bonus feature. Just ‘cos I haven’t read that one in a while, and I always have fun with it. If you’re in Ohio, come on out and see me, it’ll be fun.

Hey Joe- if you are taking a vote, I vote for “The Devil on the Staircase”

Thanks for coming to our little town!

  2. Vicki says:

So close and yet so far.
I live at the opposite end of Ohio: South instead of North. As far south as it gets. The next city south of the one I live in qualifies as a Kentucky town.
If I didn’t have a new work schedule, I’d go in between hours, but the hours are from 4pm to 12 am.
I get to have the second most fun schedule of emergency medical services; the first being the graveyard shift, which is WAY more happening than swing shift.
At least w/ 4-12, I won’t have to see that doctor who never has time to make a differential diagnosis of an ECG. She goes shopping every day, from seven to nine pm and will only come in if her patient is a Trauma 1 status.
A Trauma 1 status means the patient is dying and needs immediate medical intervention. I know some people probably already know that, but I’m not sure if everyone does, so I defined it.

  3. Betsy Boo says:

    Thanks Buzzy! :)

Joe…gotta ask…why Ohio and not NC?

  4. Lynne says:

I’m in the audience right now, waiting. My sister is busy reading Pop Art.

Yes- Thanks so much for spending time with us. Good luck with that new novel !

(Joe actually stayed well past 10 PM (library closing time is 9 PM) and made sure he took a moment to chat with every one of us as well as pose for pictures on top of the obligatory autograph).

    Memorable evening!

  7. Alan says:

Thank you, Mr. Hill for coming to the Strongsville Library. Special thanks for signing The Heart Shaped Box book with your words” best of luck to you” after mentioning that I am a aspiring writer.

    It was a great presentation!

    Please return again!

I am a fan from southern Ohio, and my two best friends are big fans as well. Please come to Ohio again- if we had known sooner we would not have missed it!

Thank you, too, for the much needed escape from reality. These days my greatest enjoyment comes from books!

  10. Betsy Boo says:

I totally relate to your last sentence Wendy.

Megacon is going to have Stan Lee in Orlando, Florida soon so watch out you guys. Joe Hill they have a huge convention center down here so there is plenty of room for all of us. Enjoy the tour.

    Phil17larry33 (Larry bird?) -
I have driven by orlando’s convention center…. It’s huge!!! That and Gaylord palms always amaze me bc of how large and how they can be filled depending on the event!

  14. Mike Pawuk says:

Joe, thanks for coming out to Strongsville it was a pleasure to meet you and John, too. Hope to see you at Comic Con in July.

  15. Vicki says:

I’m writing again, b/c I can’t get used to this stupid new version of Firefox; so I’m testing it. Supposedly everything loads 6X faster but, so far, nothing has loaded even 6X SLOWER.
Just getting home from work and I’m freezing my bones off; it’s below freezing.

  16. phil17larry33 says:

@ This Girl, Larry Bird is a God.

  17. Aw man, now I gotta run out and buy the paperback too. I have the hardback, but an extra story sounds like just the ticket.

    Love 20th Century Ghosts btw!

  18. Alleyson says:

WOW, you visit locals in the USA, i’m sooo jealous. Heart Shape Box scared me more than Horns, scary like, Christine & The Shining, your books are awesome, just finished 20th Century Ghosts. All the best!!

  19. Taylor Bowne says:

Unrelated question, Joe? Why do we have to wait till teh end of the month for the new ish of L&K if its already done and being given away? I WANT IT NOW!

  20. Ohioguy says:

Had a great time at this thanks for coming out! And for those that missed it the Cuyahoga Library posted a video of the evening. Click on that “Watch author Joe Hill” link and it should pop up in your media player.

  21. Lea Chisum says:

Thank you so much for your visit! We had a great time and can’t express enough how much we appreciated your fabulous sense of humor and kindess. As a teen librarian (aspiring) I’d like to give a special thanks for all of the encouragement and kindess you showed our young writers who attended!

  22. Vicki says:

I’m reading a second book that your mom wrote, only this time she collaborated w/ that guy, Michael. It’s called ‘Candles Burning’ should anyone decide to pick it up or borrow it. I borrowed it from my friend, who makes a point of only reading women writers.
I think your mom’s writing is superior, I’m talking about her ability to put a viable story together. It’s something I struggle w/, getting all the techniques down well enough so that the final product comes across as passable communication.
That’s why I’m really impressed w/ her ability to do that.

  23. Michael Pasiuk says:

    Joe
    come to Minnesota!!!

  24. Gregg says:

Huge fan! One mile from my house! Did not know about this event! Joe, I hope you had as much fun as your fans seemed to.

  25. The assessment stage may be undertaken by the individual or the professional company hired to take
care of the problem. If you have a SIM or memory
card in the Black – Berry, remove it immediately as well, so that even if your device is ruined, your information will be safe.
Silt, mud, sewage, and other chemicals could be getting inside
your electronic device and it will take a lot more than simply drying the device out to get it to work
    properly again.
