Tick Tock

Oh, this is out… with the silk bookmark and everything:

(Note: this is the cover of the ├╝ber-rare SDCC edition, which I’m posting just cos I’m an awful tease)

It’s available in all the usual places: your local comic book store, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Powell’s, ComiXology, indie bookstores with nice graphic novel sections, and so on.

And if you want one signed – well, ok, that can be arranged as well. Until the end of the month, you can order from my pals at River Run Bookstore.

More useful information about getting your signed copy: they can only take phone orders. Here’s their number: 603 431-2100. You can get up to three books signed as long as one of them is Locke & Key, vol. 5: Clockworks. The other two can be anything that’s got my name on it, including the other books in the Locke & Key series, Horns, Heart-Shaped Box, 20th Century Ghosts, or any of the anthologies I’m in, including the just-released Shadow Show. I doodle a great Lake Champlain monster on the cover page of my story in Shadow Show. On the subject of doodles: only one per order. Shipping costs are on you. They can ship out of the country, but I hear it’s a little pricey. River Run will do everything in their power to make sure the books you get are in mint condition, but sales are final. Books will probably not ship until around August 10th… they need time to get all the books from their distributor, and I need time to get in and sign them. Thanks again, guys, for supporting a great independent bookstore… and thanks as always for reading the comic.

  2. Mark Reed says:

Hey! Joe, since you mentioned about the silk bookmark, I’ve always wondered this #4 (at least the one I have) didn’t have a nice silk bookmark. Was mine special!? or did #4 not have that on any of them? Thanks.

    Bless yore sweet heart!

  4. Betsy Boo says:

Just ordered! I’m so excited! You can’t imagine how happy I feel!

Just finished reading my newly-arrived copy. Whoa, that was some rollercoaster ride! I’m torn between wanting the next/final volume now, so I can find out how it all ends… or never wanting the story to end.

  6. This_Girl says:

Mark Reed – mine did not have one, either.

  7. Jacopo says:

I have received the hardcover this week and finished reading it yesterday, after reading the previous volumes. This is one of my favourite comics. Can’t wait for the ending and for your next novel. And now I’m reading Horns.

Have painted myself into a corner here: opened my door this morning to find my copy of CLOCKWORKS. Hyperventilated for a bit but then put the thing down. I’m old-fashioned: I didn’t want to flick through it before work, or take it to work and read it. I plan on sitting down at night, after the kids are asleep, and savouring it with a huge mug of tea (or perhaps a scotch), the only fitting way to enjoy my favourite series. Problem is, to prepare for CLOCKWORKS, I’ve been reading the series again … and still have KEYS TO THE KINGDOM and CROWN OF SHADOWS to go … so CLOCKWORKS might have to wait for a day.

Seriously, impatience aside … GREAT problem to have.

  9. Sammy, Mary+the other guy, Mark says:

Cool. Cant wait to get a copy, or two.

  10. corgimama says:

Just ordered mine! The folks at River Run are wonderful to work with. Great staff….I can see why you do your signings there. Looking forward to Shadow Show!

  14. Will Bryan says:

    In response to Mark Reed…
I wondered the same thing when I noticed my Vol. 1 and Vol. 4 lacked the ribbon, while Vol 2 and 3 both contained one. I was curious and emailed IDW and they basically said that there was a problem with the ribbon in some of the earlier printings (the ink from the ribbon was bleeding off onto the pages). The ribbon bookmarks were suspended for some printings, then reinstated in later ones…now I was not able to find out exactely what printings from which volumes were affected, or the dates from which the ribbons got left out, but according to them all future editions should have the ribbon.

  15. Sammy, Mary+ Mark says:

How do you adjust from writing dialogue for a comic then for a novel..always wondered.

  16. Sammy, Mary+ Mark says:

Being back on the site feels like stepping into your old house…everything is still there.

The pictures you tweeted of the lion protecting her cubs was cool Joe.

I ordered my last fix from River Run, very good. I asked the locals to hold a Clockworks book for me prior to its release this time. They’ve always been good to me so I spent local. I bought a Cape too. Two Capes! Hahahaaa

  19. Betsy Boo says:

River Run is the most awesome bookstore ever! Wish they were here so I could visit in person. Maybe someday I can come there.

    Joe

In 2010 you posted a thread (Iggy Perrish’s Rock Bible) containing the playlist for HORNS. If you get a chance, can you do the same for NOS4A2? Thanks.

  21. Patrick says:

Fantastic! I just ordered copies of Vol. #5, Vol #4, and SHADOW SHOW. Looking forward to receiving them in a couple weeks.

  22. Steve says:

Joe, I just got the Hardcover of Clockworks and mine had a Bookmark ribbon. I also got a neat promo pack from a comic book store in New Hampshire. It was a beer glass from the cape and The cape hardcover with a tipped in sheet signed by you and Jason Ciaramella, Zach Howard, and either Chris Ryall or Nelson Daniel. Plus a Free Comic book day comic Danger Boys signed by Jason Ciaramella and Craig Shepard. Both are numbered also. They are great to add to my collection. How about a visit to my friends at Cloud City Comics in Syracuse, New York for some Games and Signings ?

  23. Tammy says:

I love Locke & Key so much that I bought all the issues from #4 and #5 on Comixology and read them on my Kindle and now I have signed hardbacks of those two coming to complete my collection! Sooooo excited! You are an amazing author in your own right. Yes, I’ve been a HUGE Stephen King fan since high school, but I love your work on its own merits. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing imagination with me.

  24. Betsy Boo says:

    Steve…”beer glass”????

  25. Steve says:

Betsy Boo, It is a beer glass from Jet pack Comics that has the cape logo with the four names of the Authors and Artists of the cape. You might be able to find the promo on EBay.

  26. Considering pretty much everything possibilities, you might believe that handling
the Keurig B60 coffee brewer is a complicated task.
Store-bought coffee grounds are pre-packed, which means you never know how much time they have been sitting
around the shelves for. This keurig also features chrome accents, a blue, back lit LCD display and three brew
    size.

  27. Many varieties of subwoofer are available inside
market today. A good surround sound system
is the best way to improve your home entertainment experience.
The first option is always to diligently search audio or speaker forums and reviews of brands and
    models.

I use low voltage flood -lights that come with a timer.
As you can see, decorating for Xmas does not have to empty
your wallet. You also have to ensure that all the decorations are child safe and that they match the overall style of the room.

  29. Enrique says:

They are wholesome dishes your kid will surely get pleasure from.

Brownies are always yummy, but this brownie dessert tops them all with the added peanut butter.
Allow the pan to sit for about 10 minutes before serving the
    oven baked s’mores.
