Couple very positive responses to Locke & Key just up. Box Office Prophets has some great stuff to say about the series as a whole (scroll down for Kim Hollis’s review), while IGN looks at issue 6 and likes what they see… although reviewer Richard George is displeased that he’s going to have to wait a few months before the series continues.
He raises an interesting point about the hiatus. In brief, though, I’ll just note that the trade HC of “Welcome to Lovecraft” doesn’t come out until late September or early October, and will allow people who don’t regularly visit comic stores a chance to discover the series. It makes sense, I think, to give the first installment of LOCKE & KEY a chance to broaden its audience before continuing. There are other practical reasons for the wait, but I’ll leave it at that for now.

Sounds good to me since I’ll be waiting on the HC – I can understand those who are up to date with the series not wanting to wait too long…. Things take time, I say!

Wow…Box Office Prophets has said it and I gotta say as much as I LOVE SK (and have read everything of his I could get my hands on), I have to agree. I can’t help but wonder what a statement like this means to Joe or SK? As a parent, I couldn’t help being so proud I could bust. But I wonder what the son feels?
Anyway, congrats again Joe, Gabe and Jay. You really DO have something very unique going on here. I, too, wish we could get the next installment sooner, but as I’ve said before, good things are worth waiting for.

As far as I know, Joe conceived it for comics from the very beginning…
