NY Times Hearts Comics
Oh, that’s cool: the NY TIMES is launching a bestseller list dedicated to graphic novels (or, to be more precise, graphic books – apparently I’m not the only one uncomfortable with describing a comic book memoir as a novel-anything). It’ll be interesting to see how much the list changes from week to week; I’m betting on very little variety, but would be pleased to be proved wrong. Big shout out to my publishers at IDW who found a spot for themselves on the hardcover list with their Terry and the Pirates collection.

That’s neat!
I was listening to Howard Stern this week and they were talking about Watchmen and that lead to them all talking about “graphic novels/books” – and someone, I think Howard, finally said “Can’t I still call them comic books?” ;0)

That’s funny, TG! I remember when I first heard the term “graphic novels” a few years ago…I thought they were talking about porn. And “Manga”? Don’t even get me started. Of course, I’m an older gal and only recently got back into “comic books”, thanks to Joe. When I was a teen I used to read all the Archie comics. I’m really mad at myself for giving them away when I got married. I probably had over 200! Anyway, here’s to the NYT and hoping to see L&K on that list someday!

I remember being made fun of back in high school for reading comics. Now, 20 years later, the medium is finaly getting the respect it deserves. I just finished reading Joe’s Locke and Key TPB, and boy howdy has he raised the bar on comics! NYT list has a contender! Way to go Joe!

I’ve recently been fighting about whether to pronounce “Bode” as “Bo-dee” or “Boad.” Anyone know?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it’s “Bo-dee” although my daughter pronounces it “Bod”.

I’ve been doing Bo-Dee.
