Wednesday Comics

I may never luck out this way again, but this week I’ve got the fuckin’ hat trick going: a new short story, a new novel, and, on Wednesday, a new issue of LOCKE & KEY.

I’m going to be spending most of the month working my jaws on the subject of HORNS, but I love me my comic too, and I’m always schoolkid happy when there’s a new issue out. Even though this is the third issue of the third arc, new readers should find this a relatively smooth entry point (although I think the best way to approach the series is to go back to the beginning, and read LOCKE & KEY: WELCOME TO LOVECRAFT). Longtime followers will be glad to see a couple new keys in this one.

As if that wasn’t enough, Locke & Key: Crown of Shadows 3 also contains an extended preview of the novel in the back end. So if you’ve been reading Locke & Key, but aren’t sure you want to gamble on HORNS, it’s a great chance to try before you buy.

Yay! New keys! Been hard to wait for this one, but I know that (as usual) it will be worth it! (Any word on whether Mr. Skelton will be creating new keys for the masses?)

Been a lot of buzz on the internet about Dreamworks doing the L&K movie. Let us know when there is anything definite, ok Joe?

Great! I look forward to buying all three. Zombies, the devil, and Lovecraft, wow all in one. I will throw my hat on the ice in your honor on this one Joe. Good luck on these three and your future work. Now it’s time to party and take some rest. I’m excited about your Horns book, the Twitter zombies story and of course Locke & Key.

Could someone tell me what an arc means in that context: the third issue of the third arc?
I’m unfamiliar with pretty much everything to do with adult comics (I’m guessing the contents are for mature readers, but I could be wrong.) This is the only comic series I’ll probably read-especially if they all cost what the B&N copy did. I may try Gaiman but I’m not interested in Ellis. Yet.

I’m in a financial strait jacket. I need to find another job and finding one these days is at least 25% luck. Especially when I’ve had 3 operations from 2007 to 2008, and a complication in the 3rd surgery that caused me to need a year off.
I was only able to order Horns, b/c my friend is letting me answer his phone. But the job didn’t turn out to be as stressful as being a paramedic after all.
It’s way more stupid, I mean some of the people who claim to be his fans are idiots. Like the woman who called and told him she’s his “dream woman,” that he just doesn’t know it yet, and it’s her job to enlighten him on the matter.
The whole time she was talking, bedroom music was playing in the background. The kind I imagine you would hear in a porn movie (I’ve only ever seen porn reenactments in sit-coms, so I have no idea if the re-enactment is true to form.)
But I was ROFLMAO the whole time the woman was talking. I probably shouldn’t have been, b/c she was deadpan serious. I couldn’t help it. The image of him w/ her and that music just set me off on a laughing bender.

Is B&N the only place from which I can order Welcome to Lovecraft? B&N is where the link sent me, but I don’t have that much to invest in it.
My friend hasn’t paid me yet. I have to answer his phone when he goes to his silly cast party, which I’m not invited to (mock whimper). I’ve always wanted to go to one and see what it’s like, but he told me to answer his phone while he’s gone.
I like what he does. I used to want to be an actress; I was in every school play and even tried to join the Community Theater.

Last night I was watching a movie and, as usual, I watched the entire list of credits at the end. I noticed three groups of zombies in the Extras list, and there were LOTS of them.
I thought ‘I could play a zombie. Anybody can lay there and look dead, then do a zombie shuffle.’
I voiced the thought and Al said “Playing dead isn’t as easy as you think.”
“What’s so hard about it? You just roll your eyes back like so and wait for the unsuspecting characters to show up.” I did my best impression of a zombie.
“Wow,” he marveled. “You CAN do it. But the movie you’re watching is B-grade. You don’t wanna be in a movie like this one.”
“It is not,” I said. Having no idea what I’m talking about. I just know I liked it.
“It’s low-rent,” he insisted. “BTW how did you learn to roll your eyes that well? That looked halfway professional.”
“I watched Bronson Pinchot do it in an interview. He was showing the interviewers how he tried to save a scene that turned into a disaster. And, whenever I watch him, I’m always drawn to his dark, gorgeous eyes.”
He rolled his eyes at that but admitted Bronson Pinchot is really good at what he does.

I read a review for Lock & Key on IGN.com yesterday and it says to go look back at prievious issues and look at the shadows. I hope that’s not too much of a spoiler but man is that cool or what? Also I think there will be a new zombie comic coming out in May called The 6th Gun. It looks bad ass to. I wish Joe would do a zombie comic.
