Day 12: Nowhere (except Framingham, MA… sort of…)

I loved going in the Book Revue last night – if I was a Huntington, NY guy, I’d live in that joint. I left them with a low wall of signed, doodled books, and they’re more then willing to ship, so if you can’t catch me on the road, but want something with my name scribbled in it, give ‘em a call. They even ship internationally.

I had a new short story out the same day HORNS arrived in bookstores. It’s called “Twittering from the Circus of the Dead” and it appears in Christopher Golden’s anthology of zombie stories, THE NEW DEAD. Chris is signing today, along with several other contributors: Stephen Bissette, Rick Hautala, and Holly Newstein, at the Barnes & Noble in Framingham, MA, at 2 PM. I won’t be there myself… but I am planning to stop in Framingham on my way north and scribble my name in their copies of NEW DEAD. I draw a pretty good li’l zombie with his brains falling out, too. If you’re in the vicinity of Framingham, stop on by, grab a book, and tell Chris I said hi.

In other news, the good Blair Butler reviews Locke & Key: Crown of Shadows #3 in her new Fresh Ink and likes what she sees. Check it out.

And with that I’m going to wink out of existence for a couple days, but I’ll pick it up again in Pittsburgh on the 1st.

    Hey Mighty Joe –

Unhuman we are — even if the lumpy matter is smashed from the skull the survival waves still travel — gaga gets it — so do you. Time has no length, pick up the north bound in search of the Howling Man.

Holy Cow, Batman!! I wonder if B&N will ship a copy after you’ve signed. What a prize to have your sig and Mr. Golden’s!!

PS…Have you heard from G? The news said there was a pretty bad earthquake down his way. I sending prayers asap!

Mr. Hill…Thanks For Braving The Weather And Coming Out To Long Island. I had taken off from work and spent the whole day wondering if it was going to be canceled. I know everyone there appreciated all the time you spent signing, drawing, taking photos and answering questions. I’m off today and plan on reading as much as HORNS as possible.

Oh, BB, your right. I hope G is and his family is ok.

  5. Ryan Says:

My thoughts are with G. and his….how awful.

Thank you, Joe, received my book in the mail, laughed out loud at the inscription, I absolutely love it. Not being able to make an appearance….this is the next best thing! And a big thanks especially to River Run Bookstore, getting Horns signed and doodled for a few extra bucks shipping is incredible.

Unfortunately, I saw a real person whose brains were falling out. Sliding down the left side of her face is a more accurate description. She was dead w/ her eyes open, the first time I’d ever seen someone with open eyes.
I never want to see it again if I can help it, and I’m not about to believe I’m a wuss for not wanting to.
I was 20 and the girl was 16. That’s probably the part that bothered me most, the closeness of our ages.

mr. hill, thanks again for making it all the way out here to long island during a snowstorm and delivering one HELL of an entertaining evening.got to read the first 50 pages of “horns” as i waited for the event to begin and can’t wait to finish it up this weekend.
thank you as well for being so generous with your time, doodling in our books and posing for photos, making it a very memorable night with a decidedly personal touch.stuff like that goes a long way and is not taken lightly or for granted.
wishing you much success and hope to see you here again soon.

Good afternoon. I just finished reading Heart Shaped Box not 5 minutes ago. Loved it! I’m a horror books fan, but haven’t read any books that matched this level of entertainment in a very long time. Thank you for having written it. I am looking forward to reading your short stories next.

Great review! B.B. said it right! LOCKE & KEY is FanFrikkinTastic!!
    Look foreward to getting vol.3!
After work tonight, I thought I may finish HORNS . The last chapters I read were awesome!
I like the way the story evolves through the eyes of several key characters. When I last read , Old Kathy Tourneau used a very witty comparison when describing a certain espresso box.(shh)
I knew I couldnt go much further too fast…it kept passing through my head ..’gyped’.. Hahaa! Fed off that for a while!!
Love that clever shit right out of the blue..
I had one troop flight today, I wasn’t thinking about reading HORNS
while at work..until I had a good jag of troops in the store and the song ‘Tube Snake Boogie’ (from my store playlist starts up, so as were all enjoying ZZ Top, I hear one of the guy’s close-by me say to another,
‘Yeah! If I HAVE a girlfriend when I get back!’…
I turned around to face him and offer a sympathetic ‘ohh noo’ (yea I mean it) He bought some things to occupy time with. Couldnt help it, I encouraged him to go next door and get the novel HORNS..
‘Its a looong flight and somehow,I think you’ll like it! Good luck with your woman!” I said
He thanked me and waved goodbye.
    Hope He got it!!!!!!!
    ..I didn’t ask his name…hope it wasn’t ‘Lee’ I woulda fell over!
cause thats MY name too..Ahhhhhh!! (spelled different, and I’m a female so it doesnt count!)

  14. Myles Traill Says:

Interesting information, thank you…right now I have a question on this topic since I’m writing a book about modern dating and how to get a girlfriend in today’s world. I’d like to get your input on this new trend of guys studying “pickup”, and I’m wondering whether that stuff works? Is there one “dating coach” out there who truly has techniques that work?
