Sweet! Another great cover. Hey Joe, can you give us some examples of your comic writing process from pen to published comic? I’m sure many of us would like to see an example of the evolutionary process.
You know, Cyrus…I’ve wondered the same thing. Seeing as how Gabriel lives in Chile and Joe lives here I guess a lot of it must be done on the net, eh? Of course, I’ve often wondered if it’s the same when writers collaborate on a book. And what happens when there’s a difference of opinion?
Yeah, sorry. A lot of SPAM is getting through our filters at the moment, but the controls for mass deletion in the new version of WP are taking some getting used to. Make a long story short, a certain amount of good comments are getting flushed with the bad. We’ll get it worked out soon, though, promise.
I also picked up the first volume of Y: The Last Man. I saw it at the store I get L&K from and recalled Joe’s recommendation. The guy at the store also said it was a pretty awesome series. He also said that L&K has been selling REALLY well at his store. I’m glad I went to him to order it in when the first issue came out. He hadn’t had any on order…hadn’t even heard of it. I like dealing with the smaller stores. I didn’t even ask for him to order the rest of the L&K series as they come, he just did it anyway.
I am looking forward to enjoying both.
I miss the message board!! The idiots at my service provider have been no help.
Hmm…I don’t fully understand. My comic shop doesn’t seem to get these the same week they come out? Is anyone else seeing this? I am on the pull list for it. They didn’t get #3 in, so i had to resort to evilbay. Hopefully they’ll get it next week.
I really dig this book. Joe, you are writing a story that flat out rocks. It is really creepy and I think that as this story unravels it’s going to get alot creepier. Gabriel Rodriguez is the modern day Art Adams. I can’t wait for the next issue.
I finally got mine today…dragged myself from my sickbed and crawled down to the comic book store. And it was totally worth it! G had given us a preview of the cover from his website, but it’s even more effective in real life. I have to say this was my favorite…the subtlety and simplicity of the drawing with the entity staring out at you is, in some ways, creepier than blood and gore. And I love how the title is embossed in gold. Very eye catching.
As for the story, it seems Joe is revving it up a few notches! What is Sam up to? How did the “Echo” gain control over him? And believe it or not, I’m starting to feel some pity for Sam. I love how Joe keeps adding these dimensions to the characters…just when you think you’ve got ‘em pegged, he throws you a curve ball. And I want to know more about the black door!
BTW, Joe and Gabriel…my comic book guy says that the first run copies of the first issue have already gone up quite a bit in value. I don’t know much about the comic biz, but it seems to me that has to be a good sign.
Dear Joe, I jumped on this book having watched your career bloom…I have to say it certainly looks like you have practiced the medium the panel to panel storytelling is so fluid/magical and the artwork is outstanding. Any plans of attending the Wizard World Con in Chicago? Better yet, any plans for comics after the Locke & Key run? Please don’t quit doing, what you are doing, the comics industry needs you. Take Care, Jim

Oh, bummer, my last 2 comments are gone. Technical issues still?
Anyway, I picked up my copy of #4 from New England Comics in Cambridge, MA, and it’s TERRIFIC.

Glad to hear you had fun with L&K 4.
